Why be healthy? Why Not? I grew up in one of the most unhealthy households. My mom smoked (even when she was prego with me, (it was cool back then), my mom, dad, sister and I were always sick and I mean always!! I should have had a VIP card to the doctor because I think I was there at minimum, twice a month. I would go to the doctor, get medicine, hope to get better and then have to go back about 10 days later for a “re-check” AND every time I had to go back, they would weigh me! Even if I was there just 10 days ago. UGH! Many times I had to get a second round of medicine because, of course, I wasn’t feeling better. I grew up with sinus infections, strep throat, headaches, bronchitis, crazy colds and more. I was always feeling miserable and I thought it was normal. I had no idea that if I just lived my life a little differently, I wouldn’t always feel this way. It was all I knew. Who knew that I could be healthy and not get sick anymore? I seriously had absolutely no clue that all of my maladies could vanish into thin air, never to return. Who knew?
NOW I know…
Excellent health is about more than just feeling good. Normally, when you are feeling down, dealing with a medical issue or trying to lose weight, you think of good health as something to achieve. Being in good physical health is a great goal to have, but if you just stop there you are missing out on SO much more! Achieving robust health is a gift. This gift allows you to actually be active in the world and achieve more than we can when we are tired or sick. My life has changed significantly. When I think back to the way I used to live before, I seriously can’t even believe the change in my body and health. I have not had any illness remotely close to what I grew up with in about 17 years. I don’t even have a primary care physician. Maybe once or twice a year I will get a runny nose and it will last a few days and just go away. I sometimes get laryngitis if my body becomes stressed or run down due to things out of my control. That’s about it. It is so amazing to wake up everyday feeling great. It’s become my new normal. Who knew that feeling great everyday would become my new normal? Once I stopped eating crap, started moving my body, and began to respect my body things changed.
Most people don’t think about good health until they are diagnosed with an illness. They deal with health concerns such as cancer, allergies, headaches, digestion issues, constipation, diarrhea, sugar crashes, low energy, and more as just a normal part of life. Everyone is stuck with a mentality of having to keep up, fit in and look good. THIS IS NOT NORMAL!!! As your diet changes, your blood quality improves, slowly you notice that you don’t seem to fit in like you used to, you naturally start to see the world from a different perspective than those that are eating fast food and junk foods. You just become clearer, calmer and more aware. Sadly, most people are missing it. They are eating chemicalized, artificial junk food, don’t move their bodies and don’t think about their health.
Ask yourself, “Why be healthy?” What would you do with your life if you became healthy? How would you use this gift to enhance your life and the lives of those around you? What would happen if YOU experienced high-level wellness most of the time? Imagine what your life would be like if strength, flexibility, endurance and clear thinking were part of your everyday life.
I love hearing from you, please let me know how you’re doing and if there is anything that you would like for me to write about in future posts. Thank you all for your love and support.
