I just started my Quarterly juice cleanse. I am drinking ONLY fresh organic pressed juices, made from REAL Veggies and Fruits for the next 10 days. This is an amazing way to reset your body. Green juices are powerful nutrition. I have done some type of cleanse/detox/fast/reboot for the last 10 years or so about every three months. I always feel SO Amazing after I complete my cleanse. I feel clean, light and of course I always drop a few pounds. People ask me all the time why I do these cleanses since I take such good care of myself and eat clean. What most people don’t understand is that just because I’m healthy and eat (mostly) clean (we all have our vices), we are still exposed to so many harmful chemicals and toxins on a day to day basis.
Think about how many harmful chemicals are in your home. Start with the cleaning products you have under your kitchen sink and in your bathroom. Then move to your laundry room and garage. Do you drink filtered water? Do you bathe in filtered water? What about the gross fumes from all the cars and trucks in your daily commute? Do you even want me to start talking about all of the processed “foods” out there? Granted, I don’t eat most of the those Frankenfoods but, occasionally, I do enjoy a good slice of pizza or even eat conventional produce if organic is not available. When you really become mindful of what is potentially harmful out there, there are so many options to lower your toxic body burden.
I believe that keeping my body in great health is due to eating clean, regular exercise, using products free from harmful chemicals, drinking a gallon of Kangen water everyday, laughing a lot, crying a lot, getting adjusted at the chiropractor at least once a week, binge watching Orange is the New Black, AND Resetting my body quarterly is why my immune system is so strong.
I didn’t mention sleep! Getting the right amount of sleep is SO Important. Getting at least 8-9 hours of sleep nightly will allow your body to heal from within and restores all of your energy, hormone levels and so much more. This is one area that I suck at right now. NO ONE is perfect. Having a 3 year old that likes to go to bed after 10pm when mommy needs to wake up at 5am just doesn’t work. I do feel a great difference on weekends when I get those two extra hours of sleep, it’s Amazing! Wow, mommy isn’t as cranky on those days! Reduced sleep also results in an elevation of cortisol levels which makes you stressed out and fat. If you are trying to lose weight and you don’t get enough sleep you will stay fat no matter how hard you try, you won’t be able to get off those pounds.
A great juice to start with is to juice: Cucumber, Celery, Green Apples, Kale, Lemon, and Ginger. It’s so YUMMY and POWER PACKED with Nutrients. Use a cold press juicer to maintain the nutrients. I have a ton of recipes for juices and this is a great place to start.
